Diesel Spring Summer 2018 Main Collection

This season marks the beginning of a new Diesel wardrobe. “I wanted to mix everything up,” explains Artistic Director Nicola Formichetti. “The rock and the sport, the classic and the formal, taking the Diesel DNA and making something cool and carefree.”

A collection made for self-expression, encouraging the clashing and contrasting of pieces to create your own unique style, this season’s lookbook is presented in collaboration with Scottish artist Portis Wasp.

“I’ve always loved new digital artists and Portis is one of the most interesting,” says Formichetti. “What he does feels very contemporary, working with animation and a focus on Instagram. I’m a huge fan.”

Bright colour meets utility this season, inspired by Burning Man festival style and throw-it-on boy/girl easiness. There’s particular attention to authentic, 90s-influenced pale denim featuring a variety of treatments, rips, raw edges, and floating stitches.

The famous archive Diesel ‘Cookie’ logo, previously only used in advertising, appears for the first time on clothes as a scratched-out treatment and on denim as repair tape, transforming the past into the future.

Iconic pieces feature throughout—the souvenir jacket, parka, bomber and studded motorcycle jacket—contrasting the pow of bold graphic prints and tie-dye camouflage.

Artist Ellen Green has created a tattoo-inspired print, which appears on dresses, underwear, and as hand-painted leather, segueing with a rock story featuring ladders and lace.

The collection is punctuated by its statement headwear, from mohican baseball caps and beanies to bandanas and caps with plastic peaks.

The SKB sneaker grouping proves to be a continuous evolution with new prints and a new knit design for the SS18 MAIN Season. Premium stretch nappa leather and other materials add to the newness. Updated versions present an elastic upper that slips on, and an on-trend sock upper with Diesel logo.

The new Imaginee sneakers are available in 17 unisex colourways, including leopard print, camouflage, and a photo print of a laced upper.

Whilst DieselXX bags are introduced for men, as a backpack, reversible military duffle, and tote featuring a debossed logo. Nylon women’s bags feature chain detail inspired by a bike lock over five different styles.
